Botanic name: Garcinia cambogia Desr. - fam. Guttifere
Volunteer in countries with tropical climate of South India, of Indochina, of Cambodia and Philippines Islands, Gamboge produces opposite leaves, lonely flowers and big yellowish fruits (berries) pumpkin shaped, with savoury astringent taste, with thick rind and big seeds conteined in a fleshy aril .

Hydroxicitrate, conteined in fruit rind Gamboge, acts on the liver and in other areas ( adipose tissue, small intestine etc.) reducing the production of cholesterol and triglycerids (up to 27%) beginning from sugars. This cause a reduction of fat heap. Moreover the organism, having at its disposal a great quantity of energy that comes from the total demolition of sugars through acid citric cycle, doesn't need to ingest more food <=> reduction in feeling of satiety. The mechanism of action of Hydroxicitrate, further on described in detail, is illustrated on the scheme on the back.
The final demolition of sugars, proteins and fats ingested takes place inside mitocondri through acid citric cycle (Krebs cycle) with production of energy through respiratory chain directly linked to that cycle. When food ingestion, in particular sugars, is in excess a part of the citrate ( key product for the functioning of Krebs cycle) goes out into cytoplasa. Here, thanks to citratoliasi enzime it gives birth with many passages to fat acids, cholesterol and consequently to the storage of energy in excess in the form of fat that is stored in the adipose tissue.
Hydroxicitrate sets a limit to the activity of citratoliasi enzime and stops this process of storing in the form of fat, favourishing instead the total demolition of the elements with production of energy. Consequently it gives feeling of satiety.
